This way of dropping in, listening from the heart, speaking from our wellness and wisdom, laying down burdens and giving each other our blessings is simple, and timeless. It’s in our bones. We long to express ourselves and be together as a way of honoring our life cycle passages, transitions, losses, triumphs, blood mysteries and sacraments. To gather in a circle to bless, mourn or celebrate together supports our sense of knownness and belonging. We intuitively know how to drop into our hearts and our original voice when invited into these spaces, and the medicine of doing so is palpable.

Circling with and around our community to honor life transitions is a simple and ancient tradition belonging to all people across time. We can see remnants of the wise and wild ways of rites of passage in our modern day initiations, but sadly modern day bridal showers, bachelorex parties, quinceañeras, and baby showers are often a far cry from marking and meeting our developmental needs. As a culture, we have carried forth the fluff of these celebratory markings and forgotten our ways of being with the depth and the grit and the rigor required to truly meet these holy sites on the map.​
